Upcoming Events & Recent News

09.05.10 | Donations for Friendship Village

Friendship Village is in need of bingo prizes! In the past few years, members of harvest have blessed our residents with great bingo prizes! Unfortunately they run out quickly, so we need your help again!

The residents especially enjoy: stuffed animals, nice figurines (angels) , jewelry [earrings - clip on or pierced, necklaces], lotions, perfumes, shampoo and other toiletries, makeup [mainly lipstick], books, greeting cards [birthday and thank you], blankets, purses/bags, scarfs and nice picture frames. We would like to ask that these items be new or slightly used.

If you are able to help us out, please email Miss Debbie Choi. You bring them to her on sundays. This request is not limited to the present request, but accepted throughout the year.

What are the ramifications, positive and negative? Why do we have NGOs and agencies in North Korea? What are their unique contributions in the world?

Giving to the Haiti Relief Effort

By now most of us have heard about and seen images of the damage and human suffering caused by the recent 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck the island nation of Haiti. Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere and this natural disaster is made worse by their lack of resources. There has already been a tremendous international outpouring of compassion and aid. If you would like to contribute to the relief effort financially, below are some reputable and trustworthy places to send your money.

  1. Compassion International
  2. Feed My Starving Children
  3. Food for the Hungry
  4. World Vision
  5. World Relief
  6. Samaritan's Purse
  7. Love a Child
  8. Northwest Haiti Christian Mission
  9. Compassion Weavers
  10. Mennonite Central Committee
  11. Water Missions International

Help Wanted | Signage Team

The sign team is looking for more people to serve on Sundays. This ministry is in charge of setting up the signs that welcome and guide visitors to our church. We meet at 9:10 on Sunday mornings to put up the signs and we take down the signs after service. If you have 15 minutes before or after service to help out, the sign team could definitely use you! Please contact Steve Chin for more information.

Help Wanted: Prayer Team
In the future, we'd like to have an established Prayer Team that would pray for people after our worship service. If you are interested contact Pastor Frank.
Help Wanted: Sign Team
Have you ever walked into a facility and couldn't locate a restroom? We'd like to make sure this doesn't happen in our new home at Hoffman Estates High School. If you'd like to be a part of the solution we are looking for a team of 3-5 individuals who would help transform the high school into a worship center as part of the Sign Team. To find out more contact either Ruth Carr (630-351-0772) or Keum Chung (630-728-0617).
Help Wanted: Web Team
Our web site is becoming a more important resource by the day. If you have any expertise in developing and maintaining web sites, the Web Team needs you. If you are interested please email webteam@harvest-community.org.
Help Wanted: Welcoming and Food Ministry
Recently, we've had some changes in our Welcoming and Food ministry teams, and are praying to find some new people to join our ranks.  If you are interested in serving and getting more involved in the fabric of Harvest, we would LOVE your help!  The more people who join our team the less burden or work it is overall because we rotate monthly.

If you are known to be joyful and have a great attitude and love for God - we need you, if you love food and enjoy ppl eating your food - we need you, if you have 2 arms and 2 legs - we need you
In general our team could use more ppl to help serve! For more info, please contact Sang Yoon.
Marriage Enrichment Class
In August we will be offering a 3-week Marriage Enrichment Class. We will try to offer two options: a Wednesday night group and a Friday night group. Times and dates as well as cancellations  are subject to change if there is limited enrollment. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Frank.

Vision Trip to India

Joe Thomas will be leading a vision trip to India this summer and there is a little room left on the team if you are interested in exploring the mission work in different Indian urban centers. The team will be networking with various mission leaders, seeking to understand the challenges and needs of ministries in India, and raising money and support to bless the ministries they are visiting.

For more information on dates and trip details please contact Pastor Jared.

Women's Ministry Announcement

Women of HCC, please be advised that mROC (Mom's Ministry) and Omega Iota Chi (Women's Ministry) will be merging as one ministry.  We'll still have mom's group, evening groups, socials & retreats.  We are just pulling all our resources under one ministry to avoid schedule conflicts and to facilitate better communication so that ultimately we can better serve ALL women of Harvest.  We are very close to finalizing all the details, so please be patient and look for more specific announcements to come in a couple of weeks!
